@kensanata I don't think I agree with that: social change has only gotten faster and faster while life expectancy has gotten longer and longer. If death of previous generations was necessary for society to change, social change would have slowed down as life expectancy lengthened.

Also, a good friend of mine who went from the first viewpoint you present to the second and stopped opposing gay marriage. People can change :-D.
